“Maggie, does this count?”

pocket_model.jpgSo, I’m not allowed to get a motorbike hey. What about this Maggie?

This baby has a 50cc engine, comes in yellow, black, blue or go-faster-red and has working suspension, headlight and speedo. 13″ wheels with disc brakes and a top speed of 60km/hr.

I’m not sure if these things can be registered, or if they’re for use only on private property, but I think I’d be the coolest if I cruised down Hay St. in one of these. Not sure what our clients would think if I rocked up to meetings on it :)

They cost $1,200 which is a fair bit for a toy that would entertain me for maybe a day. Also, a Harley Davidson is available for the mini-bikie.

Kelly’s husband Dene is importing them, and the whole range can be found on Centaur IC’s website.

If only I had a son…

“If only I had a son…” - at the rate your going champ, you’ll probably have one within the year. hehe.. (referring to moving house)

But you dont need one you are like a kid what with all the transformers, lego, gi-Joe and whatever else toys you have strewn around your current house.

Which reminds me.. I have a complete city of Lego in boxes here at home too, couldnt bear to get rid of it, I’ll keep it when I have children considering my brother wont be having any (being gay).

“not that theres anything wrong with that” haha.

this is what I was talking about when you had your accident.

there are also a few cheaper models in pertht hat are about $750-900

Im trying to get a mini mv-augusta for $5k from an importer. They are excellent fun and get my 100kg bulk up to about 55km/hr and cornering is excellent fun.

look out for us at the collie race track trying our luck (and testing our leathers, and sliders and BAPs :( )

damn fine, just dont try it if your over 6ft3, you cramp your nads up and suffer the next day.

What if you *are* 6′3″ (not over though)? :)

Mel has a bike licence, I won’t let her have one though. Big up to Maggie, she’s keeping you out of a wheelchair by not letting you have one.

The voice of reason. THANK YOU, Mark!

Mags have you ever been on a moto-cicletta? The rush is amazing. Admittedly I’ve only been for two rides in my life, but they were both wonderful experiences, and if I didn’t still live at home under my parents’ roof, I’d have a bike.

I just figure, when you’re number is up, you’re number is up. At least you had fun while you were here.

    Dooooo it.

Interesting. It seems that there’s more pro-motorcycle support from the females.

as well there should be :D

My wife got her license last year so she could come riding with myself and a group of mates. I think she just got sick of me taking off every few weeks for a day. now she comes with us on her bike, as do about 4 other wives/gf’s, and its great, I just have to behave a little bit more (no more using the emergency lane to overtake trucks :( )

I like bikes and heve been riding since I was 9 (give or take thats 18yrs of regular riding) and have had 2 serious accidents, BOTH were offroad and when i was mistaking my moto-x abilities.

in the last 4 years, most of my mates wives and gf’s have started or have gotten thier RE licences and 3 have gotten R licenses (one has very very nice r-1 her husband bought her for xmas)

if your so close to the city and dont plan on going on long distance rides (albany from perth or esperance from perth) then grab a sexy little scooter or a 125 or 250.

w0rd. Bikes still on the agenda for me, just not sure when!

  11. Hale on August 9th, 2004

Don’t get me wrong, bikes are great fun - most of my mates growing up rode regularly. But, with the quality of Perth drivers, do you really want to be out there amongst them, without a metal box around you?

  12. jason on August 9th, 2004

Im in the country so riding is a joy for the time being.

when I get back to perth it will be more car transport than bike. December is a nice trip to Adelaide via bike for a group of 7 of us, no wives this time so should get there a fair bit quicker.

Perth traffic was never an issue for me a few years back as I rode from houses close to the freeway and the freeway is a breeze if you concentrate far enough ahead… and use the emergency lane from time to time :(

  13. mlambie on August 9th, 2004

    I just love Maggie’s reasoning…

“Sometimes I feel sleepy and don’t concentrate when I’m driving, and one day I might run a motorcyclist over.”

So, let me get this right: you’re a bad driver, so others shouldn’t ride bikes.

  14. Fitzy on August 10th, 2004

That means, stay at least one lane away from a Ford :)

  15. Maggie on August 10th, 2004

My reasoning is: everyone is careless on the roads at one time or another due to tiredness / mobile usage / distractedness with other things, and there are a lot of drivers on the road so that makes for a lot of carelessness. How easy would it be to swerve over a little and knock a motorcyclist off their bike. Much more serious that swerving over into the other lane and tapping the side of a car, with a well protected person inside.

  16. Fitzy on August 10th, 2004

To counteract that, the bike rider must not ride when he feels like the car drivers do. ie after beers or overtired or drained. Then you can look out for the drivers who think it’s ok to drive that way (me included).

the last time i rode in Perth I nearly got knocked off by some small asian lady in her honda accord…

I was riding a mates trx850 with the loudest pipes I have ever heard on a twin. I was behind a ute, possibly 3 car lengths doing 75 in a 70 zone (had to pee, I dont speed when i pee due to a lack of concentration :P) and i noticed she was starting to indicate and obviously didnt see me, so i put on my left indicator hoping that would catch her eye.

    nope

then I did the dumb thing I remember doing when I was 18 in the same situation, I dropped back to 2nd opened it up and pulled in front of her.

i reckon the sound of it may have given her a quick colon check, she slowed way back and stayed in her lane.

loud pipes DO save lives people.. :P
